Love the Way You Work...

It is quite annoying when you badly needed your hard-earned money and when you check your bank account - it's empty! Your wallet is EMPTY!

This is the scenario a few weeks ago with some of my fellow oDeskers. Transactions were having a delay after withdrawing the money from the payment system of oDesk. Usually our money will hit our banks 2-5 business days after the withdrawal, but that also depends on which bank you are using.

I am fairly new to oDesk and doesn't have any idea that this is happening before and now just a few weeks back it happened once again. Good thing, I wasn't able to experience this or maybe I am just too lucky that I did not withdraw my money at that time. Going back to those who were affected by the delay, contractors were so anxious as to the whereabouts of their hard-earned money. Worries like, what if their money will get lost somewhere and won't be able to hit their banks? Or maybe some would even have their jobs get affected because of the thought. Of course, if it also happened to me, I would also feel the same. oDesk forums were filled with eerie and pissed contractors with their complaints. On oDesk's part, they tried to trace the transactions as to where it got stuck and tried to cool them down. All is well, they have waited 2-3 weeks to get their hard-earned money.

I may say that the possible factors affecting the delay were: the constant update of the website (that leads to some minor glitches) and the heavy rains that triggered the southwest monsoon and flooding caused by typhoon Maring which greatly affects Metro Manila. With all of the rains and massive flooding, schools suspended their classes and businesses and banks also suspended their operations until further notice. This may have caused the delay in transfer since most of our bank's main branches are located in Metro Manila.

Whatever the reason is, the bottom line is ALL IS WELL - money's in their banks and now enjoying the fruits of their labor.

If you'd like to try if how is it to be an oDesker might as well visit their website - www.odesk.com.
